5 kidnappers burned to death in Edo
Five kidnappers caught inside a forest along Afuze-Uokha road in Owan West, Edo, have been burnt to death on the weekend.
Members of a vigilante group busted the criminals in their den where they moved their kidnapped victim.
The local security group the released the victims, who were travelers, and then moved the bandit to the major road where angry villagers objected to police intervention.
According to report, the villagers took over, and set the five criminals on fire—ensuring they all burned to death.
Kidnapping has ramped up in Edo by reason of the activities of Fulani herders and other criminals.
Edo Police spokesman SP Bello Kontongs, confirmed the incident, adding the command has ordered thorough investigation into the incident.
