Metuh ends delay tactics on trial
- Presents first witness
The delay game in the prosecution of Olisa Metuh, National publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), came to an end this Monday as the court resumes session. Metuh submitted to commencement of the trial and invited his first defence witness, Ike Abonye, who identified himself as journalist and PR consultant.
Metuh was said to have invited Abonye after Justice Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, refused to adjourn his trial.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary is standing trial for transfer of N400 million into a company, Destra Investment Limited, in which he has substantial interest. The N400 million is part of the controversial $2.1 billion arms fund retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, National Security Adviser (NSA) to former President Goodluck Jonathan, is being prosecuted for impropriety.

Metuh was said to have admitted receiving the money from the office of the NSA.
However, contrary to several other reports, the Office of the PDP National Publicity Secretary refuted stories that Metuh, received N1.4 billion and N4 million monthly stipend from the Office of the former National Security Adviser.
“These reports are completely false, mischievous and fabricated to mislead the public and derail the course of proper investigation on issues relating to Chief Metuh,” Richard Ihediwa, media aide to Metuh, had said in a statement.
Ihediwa had stated that neither Metuh nor his office received the figures reported in the media.
