Mortal Combat: 2 cart pushers fight to death over N200 cargo
An argument between two cart pushers escalated to a hand-to-hand, and both men eventually ended up dead in Abia Tuesday.
One died first, and a mob helped the other follow suit.
Confirming the deaths on Wednesday in Aba, the Police Command said that the altercation which degenerated into a fight resulted in the death of one of the combatants.
An eyewitness said the two were scrambling to carry the cargo of a woman at Cemetery Market, Aba. About N200 was on offer. And to the two, the amount was worth killing for.
It was a spectacle as the two went physical, and one gained the upper hand, stabbing the other in the neck, belly and elsewhere, according to eyewitnesses.
The killer wanted to bolt when the other slumped and died. But the spectators stopped him, and lynched him right away.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Geoffrey Ogbonna also confirmed it.
Ogbonna warned people to desist from taking laws into their hands when they have issues with others.
Police have removed the bodies of the dead cart pushers to the mortuary.
