Niger President tells Buhari to change strategy in tackling bandits

President of Niger Republic, Mohammed Bazoum, during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, told the Nigerian president that the government have to change strategy in tackling the terrorism activities bandits in the country after attacks on Kaduna bound train this week.

Both presidents deliberated on best ways of collaboration to eradicate the fundamentalist Islamic movement from the border territories of Nigeria and Chad.

President Bazoum commend Governor Bello Mattawale of Zamfara State for the way he tackles banditry activities in border communities between Nigeria and Niger Republic. He emphasized the need for the replication of a multinational joint task force across the region, assuring his support for any joint task force funded by Nigeria to handle bandits in both countries.

He also expressed appreciation to Buhari for approving the $1.96 billion Kano-Katsina-Maradi railway project.
