Community begs Gov. Sule for more rural roads.
The Eggon Community in Nasarawa State has appealed to Gov. Abdullahi Sule to construct more rural roads in order to boost agriculture and improve the socioeconomic lives of rural dwellers.
Dr Joseph Kigbu, a former House of Representatives member, made the appeal when he led Eggon stakeholders and other members from Nasarawa South senatorial district on a “Solidarity and Thank You visit” to Sule in Lafia on Thursday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Nasarawa South senatorial district comprised five local government areas; namely, Lafia, Doma, Keana, Obi and Awe Local Government Areas of the state.
He said that the visit was primarily to congratulate Sule and the good people of the state for having one of their own, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, elected as National Chairman of APC.
Kigbu, who represented Lafia/Obi federal constituency, said that the construction of more rural roads would no doubt improve economic activities of the people.
“We appeal for the construction of the following roads: Kilema-Keffi Wambai-B.A.D-Bakin Kogin Burumburum road;
Adogi-Arikya-Nassarawa Eggon road; and Ashigye-Uggah-Fadaman Bauna-Arikya road.
“Others are Lafia-Agyaragu Tofa-Agyaragu Angwan Yakubu road; and Gandu-Wakwa- Bakin Rijiya-B.A.D-Nassarawa Eggon road.
“These roads, if constructed Your Excellency, will no doubt improve economic activities and improve security for agricultural activities, providing food for all,” he said.
Kigbu commended the governor for his efforts in developing the state and called for its sustenance.
He also commended Sule for the harmonious, peaceful coexistence and security people are enjoying in the state, saying peace is a panacea to rapid development.
“Your Excellency, you remain a beacon of hope, an epitome of humility, fairness and justice. These, you have exemplified by your all-inclusive leadership.”
The leader of the delegation assured the governorof their readiness to mobilise support for him to succeed beyond 2023.
Kigbu declared that the community have no governorship candidate except Sule in 2023.
Responding, Sule appreciated them for the visit and assured of his administration’s determination to deliver good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of citizens.
According to the governor, it has always been a priority of his administration to see citizens in the state live in peace and harmony with one another.
He said one of his desires was to see people displaced by various crises in the past return to their ancestral homes across the state.
Highlights of the event was decoration of Eggon attire, ‘Akpotamama’ (continuity) on the governor and presentation of request documents.
