APGA endorses Okoye’s Fed Rep contest in Anambra.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has endorsed Mr Mark Okoye to represent Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka in the Federal House of Representatives.
Okoye is the immediate past Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Anambra.
Mr Vincent Ezennia, Chairman of APGA in Dunukofia Local Government Area (LGA), gave the approval when the chapter of the party received Okoye at Ifitedunu on Thursday in Awka.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Okoye had formally declared his intention to contest the seat on the platform of APGA on Tuesday.
Ezennia, who was in company of other members of APGA leadership at the LGA and ward levels, said that Okoye’s ambition was a welcome development and a mandate that should be supported by the people of the constituency.
According to him, Okoye’s presence in the Green Chambers connoted a strong voice for Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency, adding that he has the experience and reach, to attract accelerated development to the area.
“You are our son and we are proud of the work you have done.
“We are solidly behind you; you will get to Abuja and you will continue to make us proud.
“Dunukofia has presented the best aspirant in this race and it is time for us to enter the House of Representatives. We are with you and God is with us,” he said.
Also speaking on behalf of the women group, Mrs Carol Ikeabbah, said Okoye was a reflection of someone who had built capacity with focus on human development.
Ikeabbah added that the aspirant’s past projects and achievements were evident and good credentials for his suitability as people’s representative, while assuring him of the undiluted support of Dunukofia women.
In his reaction, Okoye expressed appreciation to the people for their trust in him over the years and promised to continue his service to the constituency, the state and the nation at large.
He said his uninterrupted 10 years of public service to Anambra people, had helped him to build positive relationships across borders, which if harvested, would bring sustainable development to his people.
The former commissioner assured that his political activities would keep carrying the people along as well as create economic opportunities to empower the youths with skills, to thrive in the 21st century.
According to him, he worked with Gov. Soludo on the vision 2070 plan, which is a 50-year development plan for Anambra state.
“I understand the ‘Soludo Agenda’.
“I want to play a role in helping the governor achieve his agenda of transforming Anambra into a liveable, prosperous smart megacity, that will provide economic opportunities in record time,” he said.
