Kidnapped UI Professor. Agbaje, regains freedom
The kidnapped former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Professor Adigun Agbaje, has regained freedom from the custody of the kidnappers.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Command, SP. Adewale Osifeso, in Ibadan on Monday confirmed the release of Prof. Agbaje who was kdnapped on Friday with other travelers, including two female students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, by gunmen in military uniform near Dominica University, on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Osifeso said that Agbaje is currently undergoing debriefing, promising to provide update on the incident.
The two students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic kidnapped with the lecturer identified as Olayemi Adejare and Oluwatobi Orekoya were picked up with Agbaje on Sunday night at a location near Sat Guru Maharaji camp on Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.
The kidnappers had earlier contacted Agbaje’s family demanding N50 million ransom for his release, and N10 million each for release of the two students.
