A Chinese man who stabbed his 23-year-old Nigerian girlfriend, Ummulkhulsum Sani Buhari, to death in Kano State has said he did it out of self-defense.

Frank Geng Quangrong told Justice Sunusi Ado Ma’aji of the Kano State High Court on January 23 to temper justice with mercy because he didn’t internally committed the hideous crime.

National Daily report that Quangrong killed Ummulkhulsum in September 2022 following a misunderstanding between them. He alleged that she reneged on her promise to marry him after he spent N60 million on her and her family.

Quangrong, who’s charged with culpable homicide, said in his testimony said: “I didn’t kill Ummulkhulsum intentionally but stabbed her in self-defence after she grabbed my testacles.

I want this honourable court to temper justice with mercy in the judgment in view of the fact that I stated earlier.”

Justice Ado-Ma’aji adjourned the matter until March 29 for judgment
