Sokoto: FG pledges restoration of electricity in eight LGAs
The Federal Government of Nigeria has vowed to restore electricity to eight local government areas of Sokoto State, after being without power for about a decade.
Adelabu Adebayo, the Minister of Power, said this recently after the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu, raised the issue during an official visit to his office
Following the minister’s pledge, a delegation from the Ministry of Power was dispatched to assess the affected areas to reinstate electricity supply.
Mustafa Baba Umarah, the Director of Distribution at the Federal Ministry of Power, who spoke during the assessment exercise at the weekend in Sokoto, explained that the federal government’s team would carefully study the nature of the problems causing the blackout in the affected communities and report back for necessary action.

He assured of the government’s commitment to ensuring that all Nigerians have access to electricity, regardless of their location.
The state’s Commissioner for Energy, Sanusi Dan Fulani, appealed for support from the benefiting communities to ensure the success of the restoration project.
He explained, “The eight local government areas earmarked for reconnection to the national grid are Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Wurno, Rabah, Gada, Illela and Gwadabawa.”
