ACU expels students who beat their colleague to death over phone

Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, permanent secretary of Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in a statement said five persons have been rescued so far. Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said the mosque on Yusuf Street, off Ladipo Road, Papa Ajao, collapsed while prayer was ongoing. The permanent secretary said that search and rescue operations were taking place under his supervision.

The management of the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State has expelled some students of the institution for beating a fellow student to death over an alleged stolen phone.

The management disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

According to the statement, “The University has zero tolerance for any sort of anti-societal vices and misconduct. It is important to stress that the expelled students do not belong to any cult group.

What actually happened is that the deceased was alleged to have stolen a mobile telephone, but instead of reporting the issue to the University management, the expelled students could not control their emotions.

The University has taken swift action by handing over all the students involved to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation, with the assurance that justice will be served.”
