UTME: Registration, reading materials fetches JAMB N9.35bn

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reviewed that the registration for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has fetched the board a whooping N9.35bn as registration closes today nationwide.
National Daily gathered that JAMB had so far registered 1.7m candidates for the examination; the highest since the board came on board several decades ago.
The Head of Information, JAMB, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, revealed that such number of registered candidates have “never been recorded in the history of the board.’’

He also revealed that the unified examination will be conducted on 13 May, 2017. He noted that JAMB is putting necessary facilities in place to accommodate the huge number of potential candidates.
National Daily learnt that about 1.2million candidates registered for the UTME in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
With registration form of N5,000, it fetched the board N8.5bn while the N500 for the materials, fetched the board N850m.
It was further gathered that the computer-based centres, are making use of 633 centres during the examination.
