Police arrest 2 with fabricated AK47 rifle in Bauchi State, implying possession of illegal arms.
The Bauchi State Police Command, on Thursday, disclosed the arrest two suspects with a fabricated AK47 rifle and ammunition in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Ahmed Wakil, at a news conference in Bauchi on Thursday, narrated that the suspects were apprehended at Boto Market in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, following a tip-off from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
He said that the suspects traveled from Plateau State to negotiate the sale of the rifle for N580,000.
Wakil, said the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
According to him, Commissioner of Police (CP), Auwal Musa, has pledged to apprehend the manufacturers of such weapons, regardless of their location.
“The Command is committed to eliminating illegal firearms in the state and has urged citizens to cooperate in this effort,” he said.
The PPRO said the arrest is a significant milestone in the Command’s efforts to combat the proliferation of small and light arms in Bauchi State.
He assured the public of the police dedication to ensuring safety and security.
