IGP extends tinted glass permit grace period to August 12, 2025
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved the extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025.
This extension follows a surge in public concerns and feedback surrounding the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit.
According to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the decision reflects the institution’s commitment to responsive, transparent, and citizen-centered policing.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Force Headquarters emphasized that the voices of Nigerians have not gone unheard. Instead, they have played a significant role in prompting the review and ongoing reform of the permit application process.
The extension aims to allow for necessary system upgrades, user-interface enhancements, and the resolution of any difficulties currently facing applicants.
“The extension of the enforcement deadline is not a retreat but a strategic decision to ensure no citizen is unduly disadvantaged by technical barriers or procedural inefficiencies,” the statement read.
The NPF noted that efforts are being made to simplify both physical and digital channels for applying and renewing the permit.
These include the introduction of more robust verification tools, improved security measures, and streamlined procedures to reduce delays and eliminate corruption.
Citizens are reminded that the official platform for Tinted Glass Permit application and renewal is http://possap.gov.ng.
The Police also issued a stern warning against unauthorized fees or extortion during application or biometric capture processes. Any such incidents should be reported through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
