Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bauchi, Rev. Vincent Bature, said Bauchi State Government has sponsored 185 of its members to Israel in 2015.
Bature made this known on Monday in Bauchi when state officials of the association paid a courtesy-call on Gov. Mohammed Abubakar of the state
He commended the governor for the gesture which according to him “has become an annual event for the state government to give our members tickets.”
Bature also commanded the governor for relative peace that prevails in the state and urged him to sustain peace for the development of the state.
He called on the governor to fulfil some of his campaign promises especially his promise that Christian teachers would be recruited to teach moral lessons in primary schools in the state.
The secretary further called on the governor to appoint members of the association into vital positions when setting up his cabinet.
He also called on the governor to assist the association with fund to enable them to run the secretariat of the association.
Gov. Mohammed Abubakar assured that he would fulfil his election promises.
Abubakar said the state was collecting N2.3 billion and N2.5 billion monthly from the Federation Account while monthly salary bill including pension stood at N2.66 billion.
He said that the government has no money to waste contrary to what was being portrayed in some social media that as reckless in spending public funds.
“Such propaganda is sponsored by those we conquered. They perpetrated corruption and are currently fighting back.
“I assure you, I will not give money to indolent persons simply to satisfy them, and I will not succumb to those who have run down the state to a standstill in the last 16 years.
“If we want to see real change, we should begin by instilling in us attitudinal change and I want CAN to imbibe same to its followers,” the governor added.
