Nigerian man charged with sexual assault after alleged incidents on Toronto subway
A 28-year-old Nigerian, Adebayo Maoli, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and two counts of committing an indecent act in Toronto, Canada, following allegations that he exposed himself to passengers on the city’s subway system.
The Toronto Police Service said the alleged incidents occurred at King and College subway stations on September 1 and October 3, 2026.
According to a report, the first incident occurred at about 3 p.m. on September 1, when Maoli allegedly exposed himself to two passengers aboard a southbound Toronto Transit Commission subway train at King Station.
Police said the passengers activated the train’s emergency alarm, prompting the suspect to leave the train.
In the second incident, which reportedly occurred at about 12:10 a.m. on October 3, the suspect allegedly followed a passenger who was getting off a subway train at College Station.
The police said the passenger proceeded to an escalator, where the suspect allegedly exposed himself. The passenger confronted him verbally, prompting him to flee the area.
Maoli, who resides in Toronto, was subsequently charged with one count of sexual assault and two counts of committing an indecent act.
According to the report, he was scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on October 9, 2026.
The Toronto Police Service said investigators believe there may be additional victims and released an image of the suspect while appealing to members of the public with relevant information to contact the authorities.
The police have not publicly established the allegations in court, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The case comes amid efforts by Toronto police to identify and investigate incidents of sexual misconduct reported on public transport.
Anyone with information about the incidents is encouraged to contact the Toronto Police Service.
