Why NBC, health ministry now hunt Olamide, others
“Wo”, “Wavy Level”, “Fall” and “If”, and “Living Things”—all somgs by hip-hop stars Olamide, Davido and 9ice have been stamped “Not to be broadcasted” on Nigerian air waves.
The National Broadcasting Corporation placed the ban Tuesday.
Olamide, 28, shot the latest video of the banned song at Ladi Lak in Bariga where he grew up.
“This is our position: video contravenes the act. Innocently or otherwise Tobacco Promotion Advertising Sponsorship is banned in all forms,” said the ministry of health.
The ministry launched a campaign to ban smoking in motor parks, shopping malls and health care centres across the nation.

According to Section 9 of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Act 2015, once convicted, offenders are liable to a fine of at least N50, 000 and/or six months’ imprisonment.
The ministry, in a tweet, said the video, which features ghetto scenes in which youth are seen smoking, encourages second-hand smoking.
In 2016, his songs ‘Shakiti Bobo’, ‘Don’t Stop’ were also banned because of its vulgar lyrics.
