What FG has done to make governors clear salaries owed workers
The federal government has released the last tranche the Paris Club refund to 27 state governments.
The Director, Home Finance, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Siyanbola Olubunmi, confirmed the release of the fund on Saturday while speaking at the end of the Federation Account Allocation Committee meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters.
Ten other states have yet to be paid by the ministry because of processing.
A suit filed by the consultant engaged by the Nigerian Governors Forum to reconcile the accounts has been reported as responsible for the delay.
So far, the federal government has paid out N760.17 billion to states as refund under the Paris Club loan.
Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Kano, and Rivers got N10 billion each.
The governors told President Muhammadu Buhari recently that they needed the balance to pay up backlogs of workers’ salaries before Christmas as the president ordered.
