Abia Warriors returns to winning ways— Olawoyin
Playmaker, Ibrahim Olawoyin scored his first Premier league goal in Nigeria’s top flight as his 80th minute strike returned Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Yobe Desert Stars at the Umuahia Township Stadium, National Daily learnt.
The youngster, who joined Abia Warriors from sister club Abia Comets this season, kept Yobe Desert Stars defenders busy as the match lasted and capped his efforts by netting the only goal when he combined with substitute, Nwuju Stanley to make hay.
Before the goal came, many spectators were sitting at the edges of their seats with their hearts in their mouths but the goal calmed many of the frayed nerves.
Atilola Abdulsalami Tunde, who debuted for the Warriors this season, should have made it 2-0 shortly after but his effort was wrongly directed.
Abia Warriors Manager, Henry Makinwa who spoke to newsmen after the game, expressed gratitude to God for the hard-fought victory, adding that the jinx of struggling at home has been broken.
Abia Warriors will next face Delta Force in Asaba this weekend.
