Adamawa wrestler pounds separated wife with pestle for new lover, gets death sentence
Thank-you Grim, a local wrestler in Adamawa State is to die, by hanging for killing his wife.
Grim got the death sentence for pounding his wife, Kwalla, after she asked for divorce.
A High Court ordered that the wrestler be hanged by the neck until he died.
Justice Nathan Musa, who presided over the court, said he found the wrestler guilty of the offence.
The man caused the death of his wife on March 34, 2018, after which he submitted himself to the police who charged him to court.
Justice Nathan said yesterday that the prosecution proved that the convict actually killed the deceased.
“As stated in my judgment, the convict is convicted for culpable homicide punishable with death. My hands are therefore tied. I cannot do otherwise.
“Therefore, the convict is accordingly sentenced to death by hanging as provided by section 192(b) of Penal Code Law,” Justice Nathan said.
According to the prosecution, the wrestler pushed his wife to the ground and hit her with a pestle.
The couple had separated in 2018 following persistent feud, and the deceased fell in love with another man.
She also pressured the wrestler to issue her with a divorce letter.
