Aisha Yesufu reacts after Gov Soludo suspended a local govt chairman

It was reported yesterday that the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, suspended the Nnewi North Local Government Area Transition Committee Chairman, Mbazulike Iloka, for allegedly beating his wife, Mrs Chidiebere to death.

This particular case caused a lot of Nigerians to react differently. Based on that note, a well known human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu decided to react. While reacting, she made it known that the fact that a governor can suspend Local Government Chairman should get everybody worried. She further made it known that such action is undemocratic, asking to know whether Buhari can suspend Governor Soludo.

Speaking further, Aisha Yesufu stated it clearly that there should be local government autonomy, urging the police and the court to deal with the crime and prosecute the person involved.

In different states, the governors have the right bro sack any Governor they want to sack without anything happening. Based on what Aisha Yesufu has just said here, I really think that there is a need for local governments to be autonomy and be able to act as an independent entity.
