Akwa Ibom 2023: APC boils over imposition of guber candidate
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State boils over imposition of candidate at the party’s governorship primary election last Thursday. Leading some governorship aspirants in protest the state, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Ita Enang, argued that the assumed winner of the APC primary election is not a member of the party, therefore, not qualified to participate or represent the party in the 2023 elections.
The protesting aspirants threatened that the APC may end not having governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, except the national leadership addresses the controversies emerging from the primaries.
The aspirants protested that the governorship primary election in Akwa Ibom State was a sham, warning that if upheld by the national leadership, would spell doom for APC candidates.
They demanded cancellation and conduct of fresh primary election that is transparent.
