Anambra Police burst robbery gang, recover stolen vehicles
Recovered during the operation were an automatic pump action gun and several items suspected to be stolen, including a white Mercedes Benz C300 4matic with registration number KWC 140 and an ash-coloured Lexus 350
The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of a notorious robbery gang known for targeting residents and stealing vehicles at gunpoint.
In a statement released on Monday, June 2, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the suspects were arrested following a confession made by a detainee already in police custody.
According to the statement, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) stationed in Awkuzu carried out a successful operation on Saturday, June 1, 2025, in Agukwu-Nri, located in the Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
The operation led to the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of weapons and stolen items.

SP Ikenga noted that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the police to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property for all citizens.
“The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the gang and bring them to justice,” the statement added, indicating that further arrests are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
The Anambra State Police Command continues to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies for swift response, reinforcing the importance of community cooperation in combating crime.
