Babajide Otitoju reveals why Barack Obama refused to sell weapons to Nigeria (Video)
Popular journalist and award-winning TV anchor, Babajide Otitoju had an interactive session on TVC News where he revealed the reason why former US president Barack Obama at one point in time refused to sell lethal weapons to Nigeria
In a video shared on YouTube by TVC News, Babajide said some people accused the US of not doing enough to assist Nigeria in the fight against insurgency and banditry but what they don’t know is that some Nigerians are the reason why the US was reluctant to sell arms to the Nigerian government until recently
About 35:00 minutes into the said video, Babajide explained that during Barack Obama’s administration, some Nigerians lied to the US authorities that the Nigerian security forces were abusing civilians and so Obama citing the Leahy Law suspended sales of arms to Nigeria.
The ace journalist also revealed that some Nigerians told the US not to sell Super Tucano Jets to Nigeria government saying the government will use the jets against civilians in the southeast, and that was why the US made Nigeria government agree that the jets will only be deployed against terrorists in the northeast.
