Bandits launch fresh attack in Plateau, kill 20, injure 10
Bandits, in the early hours of Thursday, launched fresh attack in Heipang District, Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, killing 20 persons and injuring 10 others.
The bandits were said to have invaded the community in the early hours of Thursday while people were asleep. The bandits engaged the vigilante groups with superior weapons and could not be prevented from causing havoc in the community.
In the exchange of gunfire, four vigilantes were killed, while the bandits burnt some houses, including inhabitants of those homes who were still asleep and were unable to escape.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, was said to have acknowledged the renewed hostilities and causalities, noting that operatives of the force have gone on manhunt of the bandits, while that security has be reinforced in the community.
