Bayelsa State’s Commissioner for Women Affairs, Elizabeth Bidei, confirmed dead
The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei, has passed away. Mrs. Bidei died on the morning of Monday, December 30, 2024, following a prolonged battle with breast cancer.
Her health reportedly worsened after she suffered a stroke and a heart attack, according to Sahara Reporters.
In a statement issued by Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, the news of Mrs. Bidei’s passing was described as a devastating shock to Governor Douye Diri and the state executive council.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved family, especially her husband, Chief Jackson Bidei, and their children. Our prayers are with the family during this profoundly sorrowful time of loss,” the statement read.
The state government highlighted Mrs. Bidei’s immense contributions as a dedicated public servant and advocate for women’s empowerment.
