Bayelsa Volunteers security outfit arrest killers of Army Corporal, assures SSG of safe rescue of kidnapped mother
Operatives of the Bayelsa State Volunteers security outfit on Thursday arrested two suspected killers of an army corporal attached to the Joint Task Force Operations Delta Safe Headquarters in Yenagoa.
The State Volunteers security outfit arrested the suspected killers of the army officer, MacMelly Vincent, aged 27; and Henry Talford, 26 years, at their hideout.
Chairman of the Bayelsa State Volunteers security outfit, Lucky Asanakpo, disclosed that the Traditional ruler and Youth leader of Igbogene Community provided vital information and support that facilitated that the successful arrest of the suspected killers. Asanakpo expressed regret that a third suspect, Confidence, managed to escape arrest, noting that serious efforts are being made by Vigilante team and the security agencies to arrest the fleeing suspect.
It was indicated that the arrested suspects have been handed over to the Nigerian Army for further investigation and prosecution.
In another development, the Bayelsa State government, after the 11th State Security Council meeting presided by Governor Douye Diri, assured that efforts are being made in collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the kidnapped mother of the Secretary to the State Government, Madam Bettina Benson who is 80 years old.
The Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor, Akpoebi Akporebi, in a joint media interaction with the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mike Okoli, indicated that the state government has deployed all necessary apparatus for the safe rescue of the kidnapped victim and her subsequent reunion with the family.
The security apparatuses include the Operatives of the Bayelsa State Volunteers security outfit who on Thursday arrested suspected killers of an Army Corporal.
