Breaking: Diesel tanker explodes in Mile 2, Lagos
A diesel tanker has exploded at a motor park in Otto Wharf, Mile 2 area of Lagos state.
The fire reportedly started from a tanker carrying diesel that exploded at about 3:44pm on Tuesday, 19 July.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency claims that the organization responded to distress calls at the incident location.
According to a statement by the spokesman of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Firefighters from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and were deployed to extinguish the raging flame, as it caused panic in the neighborhood.
He said, “Upon arrival at the scene by the agency response team, a fire outbreak from a fuel tanker and drums was encountered. Emergency responders are currently battling the inferno to contain it. Operation is still ongoing.
