Buhari holds emergency meeting with Seven APC Governors at State House
President Muhammadu Buhari in the early hours of Tuesday convenes emergency meeting with seven governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja.
The Governors were identified to include Governor Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, and Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
The agenda of the meeting was not revealed at the time of this report. Presidency sources, however, disclosed that the meeting may not be unconnected with the controversy in the party over the running mate to the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The party has been thrown into controversy over insinuations of plots for Tinubu to run on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, picking a northern vice president.
Meanwhile, President Buhari is meeting with the seven APC governors one week after the party’s presidential primary.
The meeting is still going on at the time of this report.
