Casualties as another explosion rocks Kogi masquerade festival
An explosion went off at Okene, Kogi, killing one and injuring many on Thursday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was caused by an IED detonated in the crowd gathering for a local masquerade festival Echeane.
Among the casualties was an unidentified man who lost both limbs,
Other wounded in the attack had to be referred to the general hospital because of the degree of the injuries.
The Thursday incident was the second in four weeks, the first went off in Kabba , and claimed some lives and left many people injured.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP William Ayah, who confirmed stated that one of the victims of the explosion has died in the hospital.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Edward Egbuka deployed a police bomb expert to the scene of the explosion to unravel the causes of the explosion.
