The Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared his intention to run for president of Nigeria in 2023.
The minister declared his intention at the Thanksgiving Ceremony of the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
Before declaring his intention, Amaechi ran around the stadium where the event was held to send a message that he is fit for the presidential seat.
Rotimi Amaechi has been in government since the return of democracy in 1999. He served as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly before he emerged as the governor of the state.
He is currently the Minister for Transportation in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Amaechi will contest with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rochas Okorocha, Yahaya Bello, and other aspirants in the APC presidential primary election.
