Chelsea set for major squad overhaul as several players face exit

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for a number of first-team players as the club looks to reshape its squad following another busy summer transfer window under manager Xabi Alonso.

The Blues have strengthened significantly ahead of the 2026/27 season, spending more than £300 million on new signings, including England international Morgan Rogers, whose reported £117 million move from Aston Villa set a new British transfer record. Other arrivals include Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Valentin Barco, Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha.

According to multiple reports, Chelsea are now seeking to reduce the size of their squad by allowing several players to leave before the close of the transfer window. The move is expected to help balance the club’s finances while giving Alonso a leaner squad for the new campaign.

Among the players linked with possible exits is midfielder Enzo Fernández, who has reportedly attracted interest from several European clubs. Winger Pedro Neto, striker Nicolas Jackson and right-back Malo Gusto have also been mentioned in transfer speculation.

Defender Trevoh Chalobah appears closest to leaving Stamford Bridge after reports indicated that Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Serie A side Como over his transfer.

French defenders Benoît Badiashile and Axel Disasi have also been linked with moves away, while young forwards Liam Delap, Marc Guiu and David Datro Fofana are reportedly among players whose futures remain uncertain.

In the goalkeeping department, Filip Jørgensen has also been linked with a possible departure as he seeks more regular first-team football.

Chelsea’s transfer activity comes as Alonso begins his first season in charge after taking over as the club’s head coach in July on a four-year contract.

The West London club is expected to continue evaluating both incoming and outgoing transfers before the summer transfer window closes, with further departures anticipated as Chelsea finalise preparations for the new Premier League season.

Neither Chelsea nor the players involved have publicly confirmed the reported transfer plans, and negotiations are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the transfer window.
