Court suspends proceedings on suit against APC candidate as trial Judge suffers flight delay
The case against the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa West, Shehu Tukur, at the Federal High Court, Lafia, suffered set back on Wednesday as the trial Judge, Justice Afolabi Nehizena, encountered flight delay.
The lead counsel to the plaintiff, Labaran Magaji, Johnson Jacob (SAN), after the adjournment of the case, acknowledged that the judge could not make it to the court due to challenges with her flight. He explained that the adjournment was not deliberate, but the will of God as the judge was human and such things were bound to happen.
Jacob said that his client approached the court to seek justice, noting that justice should never be sacrificed for anything.
He expressed hope that at the end, the court would do justice to the matter.
The counsel to the first defendant, Shehu Tukur, APC senatorial candidate, Mubarak Adekilekun, also admitted that the adjournment was not the fault of anybody. He said they would be in court on the next adjourned date to prove their case.
The case was adjourned to September 7, for continuation of hearing
Magaji, APC senatorial aspirant at the primaries, is contesting that there were irregularities at the party primaries, challenging the emergence of Tukur as the winner.
