Covid-19: Worries as Kano cases rise, may soon become epicentre of the north
The Kano State Government has confirmed 74 new cases of coronavirus in the state.
Governor Umar Ganduje made this known on Saturday.
Speaking at a press briefing,, Ganduje said out of 489 samples, 74 tested positive
“We’ve taken samples of 489 people, out of these number 74 were confirmed positive for the virus,” he said.
Before now, no fewer than 73 cases were confirmed before the NCDC suspended testing in the state because of health workers infection.
In less than two weeks, Kano has seen the number of confirmed cases rise to 147 while Lagos, the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria recorded 625 since Feb 27.
Ganduje has ordered a total lockdown of the state.
