Death toll rises to 9 in Kogi auto crash – FRSC
Three more victims of Tuesday’s tragic auto-crash in Kogi have died, raising the death toll to nine, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The crash, involving an articulated vehicle transporting animals and passengers from Bauchi to Enugu, initially resulted in six fatalities and 60 injuries.
The victims were rushed to the Kogi Specialist Hospital and the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH) in Lokoja for treatment.
Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, the FRSC Sector Commander for Kogi, confirmed on Friday that three of the injured victims succumbed to their injuries on Thursday.
Two died at the Kogi Specialist Hospital, while one passed away at the Federal University Teaching Hospital Lokoja.

“It’s very unfortunate that the victims couldn’t survive due to the severity of their injuries,” Oyedeji said.
The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday along the Zone 8 – Crusher Road in Lokoja. FRSC officers, alongside police and NSCDC personnel, had quickly transported the injured to the hospitals for urgent medical care, while the bodies of the six initial fatalities were deposited at FUTH.
