DEBORAH: Sokoto police gives update on prime suspects
The Sokoto State Police Command is still looking for the prime suspects in the murder of Ddeborah Samuel, a student of the Shehu Shagari Colege, Sokoto, stoned to death in May for what her killer called blasphemy.
The state police command gave the update in an interview with the Punch on the weekend.
“Those ones we arrested then, though not the suspected killers, contributed to the violent riot and were arraigned in court where the judge ordered that they should be remanded,” he told the newspaper.
“Concerning those suspected killers, we have circulated their pictures to media houses and sent our intelligence to every part of the state.
“We are still on the lookout for them and we are confident of arresting them wherever they may be hiding. We will flush them out and arraign them before a competent court of law.’’
The murder was roundly condemned by leaders of faith in both Christianity and Islam then.
Both the state and the federal governments also ordered law enforcement agents to ensure justice, leading to the arrest of those in remand now.
Many Nigerians believe the case will die down, and the suspects will come out of remand.
