Edo Police arrest man with fresh human head, launch investigation into gruesome murder
Police operatives in Edo State have arrested a 27-year-old man found in possession of a freshly severed human head in Benin City.
The spokesman for the state police command, Moses Yamu, confirmed the arrest while addressing journalists on Saturday, stating that the suspect was apprehended by officers from the Evbuotubu Division in collaboration with local vigilantes in the early hours of Friday.
Following his arrest, the suspect led law enforcement officers to the scene where a decapitated body was discovered along the road near Eweka Shopping Plaza.
“The deceased was later identified as 43-year-old Edobor Lawrence of Osagie Street, Evbuotubu Quarters. His remains have been taken to a hospital for preservation while investigations continue,” Yamu said.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Betty Otimenyin, extended her condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that the perpetrators of the heinous act would face the full wrath of the law.
“The command is committed to ensuring that justice is served. We urge anyone with useful information to come forward and assist the police in their investigation,” the CP stated.
She further advised young people to pursue legitimate means of livelihood rather than engaging in criminal activities, emphasizing that law enforcement will not relent in its efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
