Ekiti 2022: INEC assures of conduct of good governorship election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday assured all stakeholders that the commission is prepared to conduct a good governorship election in Ekiti State on Saturday.
INEC’s National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, on Tuesday disclosed that INEC will be deploying the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee emphasized that the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has arrived Ekiti State, saying that the various stakeholders will be signing peace accord on Wednesday.
According to Okoye, “Expect a good election in Ekiti State.
“The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission was in Ekiti two weeks ago on readiness assessment.
“We visited five local government areas and all the non-sensitive materials have already been diced in accordance with registration areas. Presently the chairman is in Ekiti State and there is going to be a stakeholders’ engagement today and tomorrow, there will be a signing of the peace accord.”
He revealed that the commission conducted mock accreditation in 12 polling units in the three senatorial districts two weeks ago.
Okoye stated: “We are confident that the BVAS will perform optimally. So, we expect a very good election in Ekiti on June 18, 2022.”
