The young kidney donor who got Nigeria’s former Dep. Sen. President Ike Ekweremadu trapped in a London detention, has been outed on one of his claims again.
Besides claiming he was a minor the senator trafficked to the UK to harvest his kidney, David Nwamini Ukpo also claimed he was an orphan.
Weeks after evidence showed he was 21 years old, Ukpo has also been found out to have both parents living.
.The London Metropolitan Police prosecuting Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice, both arrested on their way to Turkey in London, is holding on to the orphan claim, after its first allegation first trafficking a minor crumbled.
A SUN Newspaper report revealed that David’s parents are alive and well at their home in Izzida, Nduofia village of Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to the report, Ukpo and his younger brother sold phone accessories in Lagos where they had been hustling without thinking of their parents.
That defeated the claim the 21-iear-old was picked from the street of Lagos, as the London police claims.
Ekweremadu has remained in detention after the police authorities released his wife.
Both were initially alleged to have enslaved Ukpo in London with the intention to harvest his organ for their daughter who needs a transplant.
But more revelations have confirmed Ukpo changed his mind when he got to London, and has refused to return to Lagos after he refused to donate the organ he promised.
A doctor in connection with the donation has also been detained.
