The Benue State Police Command has a new Commissioner of Police at its helm, with the assumption of office by Mr. Ifeanyi Emenari.
This development was formally announced in a statement released on Monday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, in Makurdi.
According to the statement, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police is a seasoned officer who hails from Ekwulobia in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Mr. Emenari’s career in law enforcement began in 1992 when he was enlisted into the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy.
Throughout his distinguished service, Commissioner Emenari has served in a wide array of capacities, encompassing operational duties, investigative work, and administrative responsibilities across various states and formations within Nigeria.
His previous postings include Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Calabar, Osun, Ogun, Abia, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The PPRO’s statement further detailed Mr. Emenari’s command roles, highlighting his tenures as Unit Commander of the 27 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Kastina State (1996-1999), Unit Commander of the 29 PMF in Awka, Anambra State (1999-2002), and Unit Commander of the 11 PMF in Calabar, Cross-River State (2002-2003).
Adding an international dimension to his extensive experience, Commissioner Emenari has also represented Nigeria in various foreign missions, where he served as a Commanding Officer.

His international assignments include Contingent Commander for the Nigeria Police Contingent to the United Nations Mission in Sudan, Operations Officer at the Joint Operation Center (JOC) in Khartoum, Sudan, and Deputy Security Advisor for the Eastern Equatorial State in South Sudan in 2012.
Prior to his deployment to the Benue State Command, Mr. Emenari held the significant position of Commissioner of Police, Force Provost Marshal.
Upon assuming his new role as the Commissioner of Police for Benue State Command, CP Emenari has pledged a strong commitment to strengthening community policing initiatives and fostering robust partnerships with the local communities.
He has also vowed to enhance existing security measures aimed at protecting the lives and properties of the residents of Benue State.
Furthermore, the new Commissioner of Police has assured the public of his determination to utilize all available resources effectively in the fight against insecurity within the state.
