An explosion rocked a restaurant in Kabul, Afghan capital, on Wednesday, killing at least three civilians, Security officials said. Police spokesman, Khalid Zadran, disclosed that another 13 people were injured in the explosion in the restaurant in police district Three of Kabul.

Zadran stated that the Taliban security forces are investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the explosion.

People in the vicinity were said to disclosed that the explosion occurred at lunch hours, adding that the restaurant was filled mostly by the employees of the country’s power utility company.

According to the narrative, the company is located near the blast site which was headed and controlled by Taliban officials but the Pro-Taliban media reported that the blast was due to a gas cylinder leakage.

Deadly bombings, often claimed by Islamic State, had become frequent following the Taliban’s take of power with the targets mostly religious minorities, as well as Taliban officials.

Earlier, an Islamic State suicide bomber detonated himself among a crowd of Afghans gathered in front of Russia’s Kabul embassy.

The blast killed six including two Russian diplomats. Several others were wounded.

The country remained isolated from the West due to the Taliban’s draconian policies against women, their lack of focus on human rights and their refusal to form a representative government.
