Football: Doherty set to host Mock World Cup in Amuwo-Odofin

In a bid to bring out the best of football talents in Oriade LCDA , Hon. David Doherty the lawmaker representing Amuwo-Odofin constituency 2 is set to host a mock world cup tournament.
The football competition tagged: Honourable Doherty’s Mock World Cup, kicks off at the Correctional Training College Field Kirikiri Town Apapa Lagos, on September 16th and ends on 21st October 2023.
According to Doherty, the unique feature of the tournament is that each team will answer the name of different countries across the world.
“The drive behind this mock world cup tournament is the need to give our home-grown football talents exposure on the global scale.
“Being sport loving person, I chose to celebrate my birthday and my electoral victory in a manner through which many budding talents could be given a push to limelight.

“By the end of the football competition several opportunities would have been created, as many talents would have been discovered.”
“In the close to five weeks long football tournament, teams selected across the seven wards of Oriade LCDA localities of Amuwo-Odofin constituency 2, will jostle to win different mouth watering cash prizes at the end of the competition.
The second place winner will go home with a cash prize of 300 thousand naira, while first place winner carts home 500 thousand naira.
Also the Highest Goals Scorer will pick up 30 thousand naira, the Most Valuable Player also goes home with same amount, the Best Keeper of the tournament will get 20 thousand naira.
