Former APC gov in trouble; 21 exotic cars recovered from his compound
Following a litany of corruption allegation petitions, the EFCC raided the home of the APC ex-governor of Zamfara, Abdulaziz Yari, and recovered 21 exotic cars Sunday night.
EFCC’s acting spokesman, Tony Orilade, said the former governor’s residence was raided in respect of an ongoing investigation.
The agency also searched the houses of Yari’s brother, Jafaru and his friend, Sha’aya Mafara.
Yari, who was the immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, is being investigated for alleged questionable payment of N19 billion from the London-Paris Club refund, and for spending N35 billion on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs); Ecological and Stabilisation Fund, and how procurement debt of N151, 190,477,572.02 he left behind..
“Like we have always said, we won’t discuss our investigation with the media, said Orilade.
“At the appropriate time, when the investigation is ripe, we shall proceed to prosecution and we shall carry the media along.”
