Fulani warlord Wakili, serial killer Shodipe, other high-profile perps broken out of Abologo prison, hundreds rearrested
The Abolongo, Oyo, jail break on Friday has recorded some fatalities just as there is a likelihood that high-profile criminals escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre.
According to reports, an Amotekun member was shot dead, and a soldier attached to the state Operation Burst and another Amotekun officer fatally injured are in hospital. An inmate got shot, too, while trying to escape.
An earlier account stated 843 inmates escaped, among whom are Fulani warlord Isikilu Wakili, the serial killer Sunday Shodipe, and scammer Olaniyan Amos of Crime Alerts.
The prison authorities would not comment on that.
Twelve hours after the attack carried out with explosives and guns, at least 262 of the inmates have been rearrested through a joint security effort with the local security, including members of the Vigilante Group and local hunters.
No fewer than 575 are still on the run.
Controller of Correctional, Oyo State Command, Mr. Noel Ailewon, confirmed the attack and re-arrest.
