GOCOP announces leadership changes after General Secretary’s resignation
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has commenced the new year with significant leadership adjustments. At its first executive meeting held on January 14, 2025, the Executive Council accepted the resignation of its General Secretary, Mr. Collins Edomaruse.
This decision follows Mr. Edomaruse’s recent appointment as Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on International Development Partners.
In his resignation message, Mr. Edomaruse stated that stepping down was essential to allow him to fully dedicate himself to his new role in Edo State. He expressed his unwavering commitment to the organization, pledging to remain an active member of GOCOP.
To fill the vacancy, the council appointed Mr. Olumide Iyanda, popularly known as “Olu-Mighty,” as the substantive General Secretary. Before his promotion, Mr. Iyanda served diligently as Deputy General Secretary, earning the trust and confidence of the council.
Members of the council expressed optimism about his leadership abilities, with assurances that he would build upon the foundation laid by his predecessor.
In addressing the council, Mr. Edomaruse made a heartfelt appeal for members to extend their full support to Mr. Iyanda. “Our new Gen-Sec is tested and competent,” he stated. “I am confident he will excel in this role and take GOCOP to greater heights.”
Mr. Edomaruse used the opportunity to thank past and present leaders of GOCOP, including former presidents Hon. Malachy, Malam Musikilu, and ‘Gen’ Dotun, as well as the current Executive Council led by Maureen.
He expressed deep gratitude for their guidance and support throughout his tenure as General Secretary.
