Gov. Wike shuts down Rivers over Coronavirus
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Wednesday announced the shutdown of the state effect from 6.00pm Thursday. The governor ordered that all routes into Rivers State be closed to traffic.
Governor Wike in a state broadcast directed that all seaports, airport and all land borders be closed, while announcing other precautions being taken to prevent outbreak of Coronavirus in Rivers State.
Affected by this latest restriction are the airports, seaports and roadways into the state.
The governor maintained that no passenger will be allowed into the state from the airport and no vehicle will be allowed to enter or go out of the state, adding that security agencies have been mandated to enforce the directive.
Governor Wike said the new measures would remain in place until further notice.
