Governor Emmanuel escapes death as church building collapses in Uyo
Reports reaching National Daily have it that the Church building of a pentecostal church Reigners Bible Church International, in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom State capital have collapsed.
No fewer that three persons have been confirmed dead in the incident which happened at about 12 noon on Saturday.
A source privy to the incident explained that the founder of the church, Apostle Akan Weeks was supposed to be ordained Bishop today.
Our source said high profile citizens of the state were present at the event when the church, located at Km1 Uyo Village Rd, Off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, collapsed.
The state governor, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, was present.
From all indications, the governor, alongside others were trapped in the building.
National Daily further learnt that the Governor is however in good condition as at the time of filing this report as he was rushed to the government house immediately, he was rescued from the debris of the collapsed building.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Irene Ugbo, is yet to respond to a message sent to her mobile number.
