Grammys 2022: Wizkid not winning is a loss for Nigeria Music Industry, fans reacts
Fans of Nigerian music artiste, Ayodeji Balogun a.k.a Wizkid, have reacted as the singer failed to win in the two categories he got nominated for in the 64th Grammy awards.
Veteran singer, Angelique Kidjo, beat the singer to win the Best Global Music Album with her Mother Nature album while Wizkid also lost to Arooj Aftab in the Best Global Music Performance category.
This has generated a lot of reactions from his fans known as the Wizkid FC.
Àgbà Akin on Twitter said, “Wizkid is still a winner! A force to be reckoned with, he created magic! Essence was in everyone’s mouth! Broke Multiple billboard records man! he deserves this. He’s a winner in our book!”
Dami Adenuga tweeted, “African musician’s greatness is not determined by a Grammy award. Wizkid inclusive. We have the greatest artists in the world & Wizkid is an ambassador of Afrobeats. He needs no award to validate the greatness of his music.”
“Wizkid and Essence should have won. It wasn’t even fair that it didn’t get nominated in the mainstream categories. It’s the nature of systems anyway. Lock others out until they force their way in.” Omojuwa wrote on Twitter.
Otega tweeted, “BIG wiz not winning the Grammys is the greatest loss for the Nigeria music industry as a whole in 2022. It would have been a general win for every Afrobeats artist from Nigeria if star boy won both awards .. either way, there is only one STAR boy and that’s #wizkidayo”
IRUNNIA™ also tweeted, “Wizkid didn’t win the Grammy because he didn’t shoot video inside jungle or dance in Ankara. Some of these people don’t know Africa has advanced beyond that rubbish!
