Ayo Animashaun’s shabby Headies Awards raised dust and flames on the first night of 2016. It turns out that YBNL’s alpha dog couldn’t hide his disgust over what many saw as injustice and abuse of the award platform. The fight that started two editions ago between YBNL and SMD music labels on who’s got a better protege in Lil Kesh or Reekado Banks turned into a verbal war.
Olamide finally apologized for his misconduct and Don Jazzy decided to make silence a golden response.
“I want to apologise to my fans for my conduct, including swearing on Live TV, at the Headies event some hours ago. I recognise that you all are the most important part of my work and my journey so far, and I would not have come this far without you. Therefore, you deserve better from me. I promised to conduct myself in a more respectable manner in future,” Olamide tweeted.
However, while most entertainers rather stay clear from the issues. A couple of famous Nigerians however gave their few cents on the matter at hand.
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo stated clearly that like most music lovers he couldn’t get over Olamide’s Shakiti Bobo. And as such had gotten to fall in love with the self-proclaimed king of the street. In his words, “Most youths of nowadays are so disrespectful. They have no regard for elders. Luxury and fame intoxicates them. We live in a decaying age. Olamide was my favorite artiste last year. I tirelessly danced to shakiti bobo. But I detest when a kid allow luxury to get into his head You know the problem with the youth nowadays? They’re young! The biggest problem with the youth nowadays is that they are easily intoxicated with small money and they smoke too much marijuana. Pathetic!”.
Others who got linked to the brawl are MI, Davido, Wande Coal and Charles Novia.
While Davido is seen as one who instigated the fight hours before the event happened. Through his tweet that insinuated a protest call from the YBNL camp if the Next Rated awards go to Reekado Banks. Many see this as a shade against Don Jazzy who tweeted to make fun of Davido on his Baby Abduction saga. Don Jazzy had tweeted, “na to use 17 condoms still pull out o”.
Then MI was also quoted by a journalist to have thrown shade on Olamide over the incidence by calling YBNL a kitchen that dishes out fast food music. The CEO and rap artiste of Chocolate city doesn’t want to be quoted despite not denying the comments.
As for Phyno ( who once told National Daily that he is inspired by Olamide) says he was asleep while the incident occured but then went further to say the public should listen to the side with more facts.
Wande Coal is another artiste of interest as far as beef with Don Jazzy is concern. The black diamond crooner who had before now been having frictions with Olamide, just started following him. He also followed that up with a retweet that ‘One day, my people will be free’.
You also recall that Wande Coal and Don Jazzy one time fell out and also had a dirty fight on Twitter because Wande allegedly stole Don Jazzy’s song ‘Baby face’.. Wande reacted by telling Don Jazzy he wasn’t God that made him. Just the same thing Olamide told Don Jazzy in his rant
