“How Dare You?” — Wumi Toriola Rebukes Enioluwa Over Greeting at Lagos Event

Nigerian actress Wumi Toriola has called out content creator Enioluwa for addressing her by name during an encounter at a recent event in Lagos.

The moment, which has since gone viral, showed Toriola exchanging pleasantries with colleagues when Enioluwa approached her for a hug, greeting her with, “Wumi, how are you?”

The greeting did not go down well with the actress, who immediately questioned his choice of words and tone, stressing that she should be addressed with more respect.

“Are you insane? Did you just call my name? How dare you call me by my name?” she said, adding that they were not age mates.

Enioluwa quickly tried to clarify his intention, insisting he meant no disrespect.

“No, no, I didn’t say that. I said, ‘Aunty Wumi, how are you?’” he responded.

Toriola, however, maintained her stance, noting that proper cultural respect should be observed. She added that he should have greeted her more formally, including prostrating, as is customary in Yoruba culture.

Following the backlash online, the actress addressed comments about her age, emphasizing that she deserves respect regardless of public perception.

“I saw people debating my age. Not everyone is small, o. It’s just that my family has baby faces. I finished secondary school in 2003—do the maths. People didn’t enter university at 16 back then,” she wrote on Instagram.
