How Fani-Kayode, Falae, others shared N3.2bn stolen from CBN

In the latest findings of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-graft campaign, the EFCC has revealed how Femi Fani-Kayode, Achike Udenwa, Olu Falae, Usman Nenadi, Prof. Alikali, and other PDP members shared N3.145 billion wired from the Central Bank of Nigeria days to the March 28 election.

Out of the largesse, Fani-Kayode got N840 million, Falae, chairman of SDP and crony of PDP strong manToni Anenih, got N100 million, Udenwa and Viola Onwuliri, an ex-minister, received N350 million, Goodluck Jonathan Support Group coordinated by Alikali, a special adviser to Jonathan, received N320 million, while Nenadi got N36.9 million.

About N100 million was received by Okey Ezenwa, a featherweight politician and coordinator of Anambra’s arm of the PDP campaign machine.

According to the EFCC, the money was meant to run the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation whose media handler was Fani-Kayode, and finance coordinator, Nenadi.

The investigators also discovered a number of shell companies used to collect the loot, including the Joint Dimensions Ltd which then forked it out to Marreco Ltd which Falae chairs, and the Ministry of External Affairs Library’s account.

Most of the monies were wired through Zenith. Fani-Kayode, Nenadi, Udenwa, and the Joint Dimensions Ltd used their accounts in the bank to mop up the loot.

Fani-Kayode has responded, confirming he got the money, and that Nenadi told him it was sourced from private donations for the party’s presidential campaign.

In 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan had a fundraiser where his supporters, including Tunde Ayeni of Skye Bank, and Prof. Jerry Gana, a PDP stalwart, among others, donated about N4 billion.

But the takings, many believe, wouldn’t have been deposited in the CBN.

The EFCC revelations came up days after public sentiments began to rise against Jonathan to whom almost all the suspects arraigned so far are pointing as the paymaster.
